Export Weakness and Production Glitches Trim Hyundai India's Volume

Hyundai Motor India's first‑quarter performance was marred by reduced vehicle volumes, a direct consequence of export market softness and short‑term production interruptions. Domestic sales managed a modest 5.4 % rise compared with the same quarter last year, but this was insufficient to offset the decline in overseas shipments.

The conflict in West Asia continued to hamper export logistics, limiting the company's ability to meet foreign demand. Simultaneously, an unexpected pause in the production schedule at key Indian facilities constrained the supply of finished cars, further dragging down overall volume.

Managing Director Tarun Garg highlighted that once the production line returns to full capacity and demand stabilises, the company expects a stronger rebound in both domestic and export sales. He emphasized that the launch of upcoming models and a focus on improving operational efficiency are central to achieving the FY27 growth outlook.
