Indian indices climb as FIIs shift from metals to services in June

Data from NSDL shows FIIs moved from heavy selling in metals, power and oil‑gas to buying in service‑heavy sectors during June's second half. Net purchases totalled around ₹14,100 crore, reversing a prior ₹11,263 crore sell‑off.

Key purchases included ₹14,634 crore in financial services, ₹3,484 crore in construction, and sizeable stakes in consumer services, consumer durables, realty and healthcare. The sell‑off side saw metals & mining down by ₹4,371 crore and power down by ₹3,743 crore, among other reductions.

The sector rotation helped the BSE Sensex achieve a 6.5 % monthly return and the Nifty exceed a 5.5 % rise, despite global market stress from the US‑Iran conflict and weak AI‑related stocks.
