International Prices Slip as US‑Iran Tensions Rise
The ongoing confrontation between the United States and Iran has added fresh volatility to commodity markets worldwide. On the COMEX platform, gold fell 0.02 % to $3,991 per ounce, while silver dropped 1.07 % to $55 per ounce.
In India, the MCX reflected this pressure. Gold’s August 5, 2026 contract opened at ₹1,40,686 per 10 grams, a modest gain of ₹338 from the prior close, but the price stayed confined between ₹1,40,733 (high) and ₹1,40,375 (low). Silver’s September 4, 2026 contract opened at ₹2,15,268 per kilogram, down ₹745, and traded within a band of ₹2,15,233‑₹2,16,230.
Over the past three months, gold has shed more than 18 % in dollar terms, while silver has lost over 32 %. The recent week alone saw gold tumble about 3 % and silver nearly 8 %.
