Investors Trust Essential for Mutual Fund Industry Growth, Says Amarjeet Singh
During the 17th Mutual Fund Summit organized by ASSOCHAM, Amarjeet Singh, full‑time SEBI member, emphasized that the most valuable asset of the mutual fund ecosystem is the confidence of its investors. He warned that a breach of trust could cripple the sector, making recovery difficult.
Singh outlined how mutual funds currently bolster the economy: they give households a low‑cost, transparent route to build wealth over time, they lock in long‑term capital for economic expansion, and they enhance corporate accountability by acting as disciplined shareholders.
He called for a collective approach involving regulators, asset‑management companies, distributors, investor associations and academic institutions to create an environment where more Indians can invest safely and knowledgeably.
