Mumbai bourse slips as oil‑gas and auto stocks fall post US Iran raid

Following a U.S. military strike on Iranian assets, Indian equities opened lower on Wednesday. The Sensex was down 407 points (‑0.52%) at 77,772 and the Nifty slipped 134 points (‑0.55%) to 24,264. The biggest drag came from the energy and automobile segments – Nifty Oil & Gas and Nifty Auto were the top losers. The Nifty Midcap 100 fell 169 points to 62,116 and the Smallcap 100 dropped 55 points to 19,164. PSU banks, infrastructure, media, PSE, commodities and FMCG also recorded losses, while pharma, healthcare, IT and defence stocks managed to stay in the green.
