Niyope Partners with Emirates Entertainment to Launch UPI E‑Commerce
NPCI International Payments Ltd. announced that its subsidiary Niyope has teamed up with Emirates Entertainment to add UPI as a checkout method on the Burj Khalifa At The Top portal. This is the first instance of a Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) operator accepting Indian UPI for a tourism‑related e‑commerce transaction.
The integration works with all major Indian payment apps, allowing customers to scan a QR code or enter a virtual payment address. The system processes the transaction in real time, converting Indian rupees to UAE dirhams at prevailing rates.
Company officials highlighted that the addition of UPI will boost ticket sales, as Indian tourists represent one of the largest visitor groups for the tower. The move is also expected to set a precedent for other attractions in the region.
