The Centre has assured citizens that petrol and diesel stocks remain adequate across the country, with LPG distribution also functioning normally. Addressing concerns over certain petrol pumps restricting sales, officials said efforts are being made to lift these limits promptly. The increased demand at government pumps stems from a combination of seasonal and market dynamics. The harvest season has driven up diesel usage in agricultural areas, while higher prices at private stations have encouraged customers to switch to public sector outlets. Additionally, many commercial consumers have shifted from expensive international-linked fuel to more affordable options offered by state-owned companies. Government sources confirmed that Russia continues to be a major crude supplier, with no reduction in purchases. BPCL recently reported that Russian crude now accounts for 41 percent of its imports, reflecting a strategic increase in sourcing from alternative markets amid geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Authorities remain vigilant to maintain smooth fuel availability.
