NSE's Declining Transaction Fees Hit Revenue, Raises Concerns

Financial statements submitted to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) reveal that NSE's total operational revenue fell to ₹16,601.30 crore for FY 2026, down from ₹17,140.67 crore in FY 2025 – a drop of over three percent year‑on‑year.

More concerning is the shrinkage in the exchange's core income source: transaction fees. These fell from ₹13,635.76 crore to ₹13,057.01 crore, marking a four percent decline during the review period.

Analysts warn that the persistent erosion of fee‑based income could limit NSE's ability to invest in technology and expand its product suite, further weakening its competitive position.
