Details of NSE's ₹30,000 crore IPO and shareholder participation

The National Stock Exchange is set to raise approximately ₹30,000 crore through an Offer for Sale, after receiving an observation letter from SEBI. The regulatory clearance moves the IPO into its final stage, pending the submission of the Red Herring Prospectus.

A total of 14.89 crore equity shares, representing roughly 6% of NSE's paid‑up capital, will be floated. The selling shareholders include SBI Group (about 2.475 crore shares), MS Strategic Mauritius (1.60 crore), CPPIB (1.19 crore), Aranda Investments Mauritius (1.12 crore), Bank of Baroda (≈1.10 crore), and Stock Holding Corporation of India (≈1.09 crore). Various government‑owned insurance firms are also expected to peg in their holdings.

Because the IPO follows an Offer for Sale format, the proceeds will not augment NSE’s balance sheet; they will simply change hands among investors. The shares are slated for listing on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

BSE officials have reiterated that NSE will not seek any special permission to trade its own shares on the exchange after the listing, and no supplementary self‑trading documentation will be issued alongside the offer document.
