Public and Regional Rural Banks to Operate Normally on 27 September 2026

In a move aimed at safeguarding public access to financial services, the Ministry of Finance confirmed that all public‑sector banks and Regional Rural Banks will function normally on Sunday, September 27, 2026. This decision comes as the United Forum of Bank Unions plans a three‑day, country‑wide strike from September 28 to 30, 2026. The RBI has granted permission for every banking outlet, including branch offices, ATM‑linked branches, and currency chests, to remain fully operational on the designated Sunday.
