Technical Fault Fixed, RFCL Restarts Urea Plant Amid Farmer Concerns

After more than seven days of idle operations, RFCL’s urea plant in Ramagundam, Telangana, is back to producing fertilizer. The stoppage was triggered by a leak in the ammonia transmission line and subsequent technical complications that forced a complete shutdown on July 9.

Repair crews restored the pipeline and implemented additional monitoring systems. The company assures that the plant will now run without the risk of a repeat incident and will boost output to meet the pressing needs of the Kharif season. The shutdown had previously halted fertilizer supply to Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and five neighboring states, leaving farmers worried about crop yields.

Given that RFCL is Telangana’s only urea source, the state government has appealed to the central government for prioritised allocation of the plant’s production. Local political figures have also called for the corporate office’s relocation from Noida to Ramagundam, citing operational efficiency and regional development concerns.
