Saharpur Jamarpur block remains idle ten years after allocation to UP

The Saharpur Jamarpani coal block in Jharkhand’s Dumka district, holding more than 973 million tonnes, was allotted to UPRVUNL in 2015 under the Coal Mines (Special Provision) Act. Over a decade later, the state utility has not taken the necessary steps to bring the mine into operation, leaving the block dormant while Coal India Limited continues to meet the entire coal demand of Uttar Pradesh's power plants.
