State Govt Aims to Boost MSMEs by Waiving Approvals in Assam

In a bid to supercharge the state’s micro, small and medium enterprise sector, Assam announced that qualifying non‑polluting ventures will be exempt from all government clearances for the first three years of operation.

The Chief Minister said the policy is part of a larger effort to make Assam a preferred investment hub. “We want entrepreneurs to spend their energy on building products and services, not on chasing paperwork,” she said.

Senior officials described the initiative as a cornerstone of the state’s investment‑attraction agenda, complementing recent digitalisation of licensing and the Advantage Assam summit’s industrial policy roll‑outs.

Authorities will soon publish detailed criteria for the exemption, as well as the post‑exemption compliance regime, to ensure transparency and encourage responsible growth.
