Top Five Destinations Drive India's Textile Trade to New Heights

During a recent parliamentary session, the Textile Minister confirmed that the United States, Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and Germany continued to be the leading importers of Indian textiles and apparel in FY 2025‑26.

The export ledger showed an expansion to ₹3,25,339 crore, a jump of 4.7 % CAGR from the previous two‑year period. More than 100 nations logged higher purchase values, reflecting a broadening of market reach.

The central administration highlighted ongoing surveillance of export metrics and joint efforts with exporters, industry groups and other stakeholders to cushion sectoral shocks, raise production capacity and sharpen competitiveness on the world stage.

A suite of government schemes—ranging from PM‑MITRA integrated textile parks and the Production Linked Incentive programme to the National Technical Textiles Mission, SAMARTH capacity‑building project, Silk Samagra‑2, and the various handloom and handicrafts development initiatives—are credited with underpinning the growth surge.
