How Taxpayers Can View International Holdings on the E‑Filing Portal

Indian taxpayers with overseas investments can now see a consolidated view of their foreign assets and income directly on the Income Tax e‑filing portal. The new AIS enhancement pulls data shared by more than a hundred jurisdictions under the Automatic Exchange of Information treaty.

To access the information, users must log in, go to the AIS menu, click on the compliance portal, choose the “Foreign Assets Information” option, select the relevant assessment year and download the PDF report. The feature currently showcases data for FY 2022‑23, FY 2023‑24 and FY 2024‑25, while the FY 2025‑26 figures will be added after the September‑October 2026 exchange window.

CBDR officials stress that the displayed entries represent only what India has received from partner countries and should not be treated as a complete inventory of an individual’s global holdings. Taxpayers must still report every foreign asset and income in Schedule FA and Schedule FSI of their income tax return, irrespective of the AIS content.

Notifications via SMS and email are being sent to remind taxpayers to include accurate foreign information while filing returns for the assessment year 2026‑27.
