Actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have filed a petition against YouTube and its parent company, Google, in Delhi High Court. They are seeking ₹4 crore in damages in their separate petitions. The petitions also demand that any content hosted and monetized by YouTube that misrepresents them, improperly uses their voices, or features AI deepfake videos, be removed and prohibited.
The petition also appeals to the court to order Google to prevent the use of such manipulated content for training artificial intelligence and to take measures to address it. The petition, filed on September 6, states, “Content being used to train AI models has the potential to exponentially increase instances of infringing uses. First it will be uploaded on YouTube, and people will watch it, and then it will also be misused for AI training.”
The petition addresses not only deepfake videos but also unauthorized merchandise sold by less prominent vendors, posters, mugs, stickers, and even those creating fake autographed photos. The petition includes several YouTube video links and screenshots, including sexually explicit or imaginary AI-generated content.
One video, created by the misuse of AI, shows Abhishek Bachchan suddenly kissing an actress. Another video shows Aishwarya Rai Bachchan eating with her ex-boyfriend Salman Khan, with Abhishek standing behind, appearing angry. The petition mentions a YouTube channel called AI Bollywood Ishq, claiming that the channel has over 259 videos of this nature, with 16.5 million views. One video showing Aishwarya and Salman together in a pool has over 4 million views. Although the channel states that it does all this only for entertainment and storytelling purposes.
The Delhi High Court, while hearing the matter last month, has asked Google’s legal counsel to file a response. The next hearing in this case will be on January 15, 2026. The court has ordered the removal of 518 links and posts identified by the actors. It is stated that this is causing financial loss to the couple as well as damage to their reputation.
