Actor Arhan Khan Discusses TV Typecasting and the Rise of Digital Content

In a candid interview, Arhan Khan reflected on the changing dynamics of Indian entertainment. He observed that television once confined actors to repetitive roles, a practice that is diminishing as production houses embrace diverse storytelling.

“The industry used to lock actors into certain characters, but now each series seeks a unique persona,” Khan said. He cited examples ranging from the traditional family saga “Because Mother‑in‑law Was Also a Daughter‑in‑law” to newer, unconventional formats such as the show “Jethalal” and the web‑based drama “Sahar.”

Khan also highlighted the impact of social media on opportunities for creators. While digital platforms have generated fresh avenues for talent, they have also introduced heightened public scrutiny. Nevertheless, he believes that “the digital wave has turned the tables for many artists, giving them control over how they present themselves.”

Expressing his own career aspirations, Khan confirmed his desire to work on OTT projects, describing them as “an excellent platform to showcase one’s abilities and try something different.” He pledged to continue delivering work with full honesty, trusting that dedication will naturally attract success.
