Akshay Kumar, a celebrated figure in Bollywood, frequently garners attention for his films. His personal life is also notably fulfilling. He and his wife, Twinkle, are parents to two children, Aarav and Nitara Kumar. Their marriage, which took place 24 years ago, has an interesting backstory.
Born Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia on September 9, 1967, in Amritsar, Punjab, he is widely known as Akshay Kumar. Today, he celebrates his 58th birthday. He began his career as a lead actor with the film ‘Saugandh,’ released in 1991. Ten years later, he married Twinkle Khanna. Before the wedding, Akshay’s mother-in-law, Dimple Kapadia, set a condition that had to be met.
What was the condition before Akshay and Twinkle’s marriage?
During an appearance on Karan Johar’s show ‘Koffee with Karan’ years ago, Twinkle shared that her father, Rajesh Khanna, thoroughly investigated the matter when she expressed her desire to marry Akshay. Akshay even mentioned that his mother-in-law had initially suspected him of being ‘gay.’ As a result, she proposed that Akshay and Twinkle live together before marriage.
Rajesh Khanna agreed to this. Dimple Kapadia’s condition was that they live together. If after two years of cohabitation, they still wished to marry, then they would proceed with the wedding. Subsequently, Akshay and Twinkle lived together in a Mumbai apartment for approximately two years before Twinkle agreed to the marriage. They were married on January 17, 2001.
