Arjun Kapoor began his acting career in 2012, initially working as an assistant producer and director before making his debut as a hero in the film ‘Ishaqzaade’. Despite being born into a prominent film family, he hasn’t achieved the same level of success as his father, Boney Kapoor, and uncle, Anil Kapoor. Sridevi, his stepmother, was a legendary actress who starred in nearly 300 films and was considered Bollywood’s first female superstar. However, Arjun’s relationship with Sridevi was strained, marked by a strong dislike.
Boney Kapoor married Mona Shourie Kapoor in 1983, and they had two children, Arjun and Anshula Kapoor. Boney later grew close to Sridevi, leading to his divorce from Mona in 1996. That same year, Boney married Sridevi. Arjun held resentment towards Sridevi due to her role in his parents’ divorce.
Following his parents’ separation, Arjun struggled with depression and gained weight. He blamed Sridevi for the family’s breakup. While he never accepted Sridevi as a mother figure, referring to her only as his father’s wife, his perspective shifted after Sridevi’s death in 2018. Arjun supported her daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, fulfilling the role of a caring elder brother. He put aside his past grievances and participated in Sridevi’s final rites and farewell.
