The trailer launch of ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ triggered significant online criticism due to the presence of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. Diljit Dosanjh announced the film’s overseas-only release on Instagram. The controversy arises from the current tensions between India and Pakistan, following the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor.
Social media users expressed strong disapproval of Diljit Dosanjh and the film’s production team for casting Hania Aamir and choosing to release the film despite the prevailing political climate. One Reddit user wrote, “Never spoke a word during the war…now we know why…I liked him but the opinion is now changing highly.” Another commented, “You can’t expect anything better from Diljit. He has always been very clear about his ideologies.” Another Reddit user wrote, “Disgusted by him. What a shameless person he is.”
Reports indicate that ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ was filmed before the Pahalgam incident. Currently, the film is not scheduled for release in India and is intended for overseas distribution only.
Hania Aamir previously faced controversy following a fabricated post regarding her alleged comments on the Pahalgam attack. She subsequently issued a clarification, stating, “Recently, a statement has been falsely attributed to me and is being widely circulated on social media. I want to address this directly: I did not make this statement, and I do not endorse or align with the words being linked to me. It is entirely fabricated and misrepresents who I am and what I believe.”
She added, “That being said, this is a deeply sensitive and emotional time. My heart goes out to the innocent lives lost and the families affected by the recent tragedy. Pain like this is real, and it deserves empathy, not politicisation. In times like these, it’s easy to let emotions cloud our judgment, but we must remember: the actions of extremists do not represent an entire nation or its people. Assigning blame without proof only deepens divides and distracts from the real need for compassion, justice, and healing.”
The film also features Sonam Bajwa in the lead role, along with Manav Vij, Gulshan Grover, Jasmin Bajwa, and Sapna Pabbi.
