Bobby Deol, known for his recent villainous role in ‘Animal,’ experienced a career dip despite a promising start. His film ‘Barsaat,’ released in 1995, marked his Bollywood debut and initial success. However, several subsequent films failed to resonate with audiences. One such film, ‘Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo,’ featured a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan, yet it couldn’t be salvaged from becoming a box-office failure.
‘Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo,’ released in December 2004, was directed by Anil Sharma. The film also starred Divya Khosla, Sandali Sinha, and Nagma in pivotal roles. Supporting actors included Danny Denzongpa, Ashutosh Rana, and Govind Namdev.
The film was made on a budget of ₹20 crore but only managed to collect ₹11.56 crore in India. Worldwide, the collection reached ₹19.16 crore, falling short of the budget. This performance classified the film as a super flop.
In contrast, Bobby Deol’s recent film ‘Animal,’ where he played the villain Abrar Haque, earned over ₹900 crore worldwide, breaking several box office records. The film, which also starred Ranbir Kapoor and Anil Kapoor, was released in 2023.
