Bollywood Star Emphasizes Passion Over Pressure for Child's Career
Mumbai, July 28 – After completing 25 years in the Hindi film arena, actor Tushar Kapur reflected on his career’s triumphs and setbacks. He made it clear that when it comes to his son Lakshya Kapoor’s future, he refuses to impose any predetermined path.
Kapur believes that every person should engage in work that sparks authentic enthusiasm. He shared that his son’s current ambition leans toward football rather than the silver screen, and he respects that choice wholeheartedly.
In the interview Kapur declared, “Lakshya is drawn to football and dreams of becoming a professional player. I want him to pursue the field that excites him. While making a name in Indian football is no easy feat, I will stand by him if he puts in the necessary effort and perseverance.”
He added, “Should Lakshya ever consider acting, he must first understand that it is a demanding profession. Success in movies requires more than fame; it calls for passion, relentless work, and the willingness to tackle every challenge.”
Speaking about children born into film dynasties, Kapur noted that many assume they are forced into acting. He recounted that his own father, Jeetendra, never pressured him, and that icons such as Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan have taken similar non‑coercive approaches. “Each individual must decide from the heart which arena suits them best,” he affirmed.
He further observed that public perception of the movie business has shifted dramatically. “The industry never was a simple, glamorous shortcut. Real success hinges on talent, screen presence, patience, hard work, and sometimes luck. If early signs are not encouraging, it is sensible to consider an alternative route.”
Kapur warned that the film world cannot accommodate everyone. “Only those who arrive prepared, confident, and with a clear purpose tend to sustain long‑term careers.”
Lakshya was welcomed on June 1, 2016, via surrogacy, positioning Tushar Kapur as one of Bollywood’s pioneering single fathers. He frequently shares glimpses of his son’s life on social media platforms.
