In the third week of September 2025, three prominent films were released, creating a buzz in the box office arena. While Akshay Kumar’s ‘Jolly LLB 3’ has taken a significant lead, the other films are struggling to make a substantial collection. Among these is ‘Ajey The Untold Story of a Yogi,’ a biopic on UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Competing with it is Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap’s film ‘Nishaanchi.’ Let’s examine the performance of both films after their first two days of release and assess their collections.
‘Ajey The Untold Story of a Yogi’ did not have a strong start. The film earned 25 lakh rupees on its opening day in India. There was a slight increase in its earnings on the second day, with reports indicating a collection of 35 lakh rupees. Thus, the film has earned 60 lakh rupees in two days. The budget is reportedly around 25 crore rupees, meaning the film has a long way to go to achieve success. It remains to be seen how much the film earns in its first weekend.
Anurag Kashyap, celebrated for his exceptional filmmaking, presents his latest film, ‘Nishaanchi.’ The film’s collection has also been modest. It earned 25 lakh rupees on its opening day. The second-day collection was only 30 lakh rupees. Consequently, the film has earned 55 lakh rupees in two days. It seems unlikely that the film will earn even 1 crore rupees in its first weekend.
Comparing ‘Ajey The Untold Story of a Yogi’ and ‘Nishaanchi,’ both films are performing similarly. However, ‘Nishaanchi’ has a budget 10 crore rupees more than ‘Ajey The Untold Story.’ Its earnings are 5 lakh rupees less. Therefore, in terms of comparison, the Yogi biopic’s earnings are higher than ‘Nishaanchi.’ However, considering the budget, the performance of both films is currently poor.
