The South Indian film industry continues its impressive performance in 2025. Several South Indian films released this year have achieved remarkable box office success, astounding audiences worldwide. The latest addition to this list is ‘Lokah Chapter 1,’ directed by Kalyani Priyadarshan, daughter of director Priyadarshan, known for films like the Hindi movie ‘Hera Pheri.’ ‘Lokah Chapter 1’ has been in theaters for 15 days and has performed exceptionally well, outperforming other films at the box office. Let’s examine the earnings of ‘Lokah Chapter 1’ over the past two weeks and compare its performance to the film ‘Dil Madrasi.’
‘Lokah Chapter 1’ reportedly had a budget of approximately 30 crore rupees. In comparison, the film has earned several times more worldwide. Its India collection has surpassed 100 crore rupees, and globally, it has exceeded 200 crore rupees. The gross collection in India amounts to 114.35 crore rupees, while the overseas collection stands at 96.15 crore rupees. The worldwide collection for ‘Lokah’ has reached 210.50 crore rupees. On its 15th day, the film earned 3.85 crore rupees, bringing the total collection to 214.35 crore rupees.
‘Dil Madrasi’ has a reported budget of around 200 crore rupees. In its first week of release, the film has not even reached 100 crore rupees. This indicates that the film is not attracting the audience it needs.
The gross collection of ‘Dil Midrasi’ is 55.25 crore rupees. Including the 7th-day collection, the film’s earnings total 57.25 crore rupees. The overseas collection is 22 crore rupees, resulting in a worldwide collection of approximately 78 crore rupees. This is not considered a significant amount. The film still has a long way to go to recover its budget. With new films recently released at the box office, it may be challenging for ‘Madrasi’ to recover its earnings.
