The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has once again displayed its cautious approach to on-screen intimacy. In the upcoming Hindi film ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari,’ a passionate kissing scene between Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor has been significantly shortened, reduced by 75 percent. This decision has sparked reactions from prominent figures in the film industry. Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt expressed his surprise and amusement at the continued prudery, stating that a kiss is a natural expression of love. He recalled his experiences as a filmmaker, where longer kissing scenes were filmed with the hope some footage would survive the censors. Aamir Khan, known for a lengthy kissing scene in ‘Raja Hindustani,’ also voiced his opinion, considering the censorship of such moments irrational, emphasizing the importance of portraying affection naturally.
