Chief Minister Highlights Youth Training and Film Policy at J&K Festival

The Jammu & Kashmir International Film Festival concluded with the Chief Minister declaring the event a turning point for the state’s cinema landscape. Over 120 films from more than 30 countries were screened, offering a diverse palette of storytelling.

A floating cinema on Dal Lake provided a spectacular backdrop for classic screenings, drawing crowds to the lake’s edge.

In his address, the Chief Minister stressed that the festival was not merely a showcase of picturesque locations. It served as a platform to empower local youth, delivering workshops and mentorship programmes for emerging filmmakers.

He also announced the implementation of a comprehensive film policy aimed at attracting both national and international productions, while ensuring equal opportunities for home‑grown talent through a sustainable, year‑long film ecosystem.
