Chief Minister lauds Jyotirmayi’s music therapy work for cancer patients

At a ceremony on July 28 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi praised Indian Idol 16 winner Jyotirmayi Nayak not only for her singing triumph but also for her contribution to patient care.

Majhi highlighted Jyotirmayi’s initiative of conducting music therapy sessions in multiple hospitals across Odisha, especially for cancer patients. He said the therapeutic vibrations help reduce pain and improve the emotional health of patients, marking a pioneering step in the state’s healthcare approach.

The CM presented her with a cash reward of five lakh rupees and a formal commendation, calling her a youth icon whose blend of art and service embodies the spirit of a progressive Odisha.

Jyotirmayi’s parents, Chakradhara and Gauri Nayak, attended the event and expressed their joy at seeing their daughter recognized for both artistic excellence and humanitarian work.
