The highly anticipated second season of CID is rekindling the passion of its fanbase by bringing back familiar faces and a renewed sense of purpose. Following earlier controversies, the beloved crime series is now focusing on the return of cherished characters, generating considerable excitement and nostalgia on social media platforms.
Rumors confirm Shraddha Musale’s return as the astute Dr. Tarika, the assistant to Dr. Salunkhe. Musale, known for her forensic insights and on-screen chemistry with Senior Inspector Abhijeet (Aditya Srivastava), is rejoining the cast. A post by GosspisTV on X, including a set photo, fueled further excitement. A fan wrote, “I am so happy and excited for Dr. Tarika’s entry into the show.” Musale’s notable presence on the original CID ran from 2007 to 2018. Her diverse acting portfolio, encompassing roles in ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii’ and ‘Mile Jab Hum Tum,’ demonstrates her range.
Janvi Chheda’s return as Inspector Shreya closely follows this announcement. Chheda, whose character was known for her strong personality and rapport with the team, particularly with Senior Inspector Daya, shared her enthusiasm on Instagram, hinting at a fresh start. “To new beginnings. Or rather, picking up where I left off… Yeah, that’s more poetic!” she wrote.
The current season of CID has been an eventful journey for its loyal audience. Early episodes saw criticism following the on-screen demise of ACP Pradyuman (Shivaji Satam) and his replacement by Parth Samthaan as ACP Ayushmaan. Fan support prompted the return of Satam in his iconic role. The show later bid farewell to Parth Samthaan.
Moreover, the show persists in keeping viewers captivated. For instance, Narendra Gupta, who played Dr. Salunkhe, exited the series unexpectedly. Dr. Tarika’s return is now particularly significant, with speculation she could become the next forensic lead, considering the departure of Dr. Salunkhe.
The return of Dr. Tarika and Inspector Shreya broadens the CID cast, joining the existing ensemble of Shivaji Satam, Aditya Srivastava, Dayanand Shetty, Narendra Gupta, and Hrishikesh Pandey.
CID Season 2 airs on Saturdays and Sundays at 10 PM on Sony TV and is available for streaming on Netflix and Sony LIV.
