Rajinikanth, a megastar in the film world, is celebrated by fans who consistently demonstrate his immense popularity. With the upcoming release of his highly anticipated film ‘Coolie,’ and marking his 50th year in the film industry, fans are preparing grand celebrations. The Mumbai fan club of the Thalaiva has organized various events for this milestone. The film ‘Coolie’ is scheduled to release on August 14, 2025. In honor of Rajinikanth’s 50 years in cinema, fans have planned a spectacular celebration. According to Mumbai fan club head, Anandi Anand, a special fan show of ‘Coolie’ will be held at the Miraj Cinema in Wadala at 6 am. The celebrations will commence at 4:30 am with members from all 50 Rajinikanth fan clubs in Mumbai and Mira Road gathering to display banners. The tradition of celebrating Rajinikanth’s films in Mumbai began in 1991 with the film ‘Thalapathi’ at the Aurora Cinema in Matunga. The owner of the theater, Nambi Rajan, recalls the early days when posters were taken to temples, then to the cinema halls, with coconuts being broken before entering the projection room. Now, celebrations include digital displays, fan club cutouts, and special ceremonies. To commemorate Rajinikanth’s 50 years in cinema, the fan club has arranged for 50 women to perform aarti for a 90-foot tall cutout of the actor. The ceremony will include an abhishek (ritual bath) with 90 liters of milk and the breaking of 50 coconuts. Additionally, an organization called Yuno Aqua Care has announced a holiday on the day of the film’s release. This holiday applies to all branches in Chennai, Bangalore, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Chengalpattu, Mattuthavani, and Arapalayam. The organization also plans to celebrate Rajinikanth’s 50 years by distributing food in orphanages and old age homes, and providing free movie tickets to all staff members.
