Deol Family Prepares for ‘Bantwara 1947’ After Pilgrimage to Patna Sahib

Sunny Deol and his son Karan Deol recently completed a pilgrimage to Patna Sahib, home to one of Sikhism’s five holy Takhts and the birthplace of the tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh. In photographs shared online, the duo are shown in prayer, receiving holy prasad and describing the experience as profoundly uplifting.

The visit comes as the Deols finalize preparations for "Bantwara 1947," a drama set against the backdrop of the 1947 India‑Pakistan partition. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film is produced by Aamir Khan Productions, with A.R. Rahman providing the score and Javed Akhtar writing the lyrics. Its plot follows a Hindu family that moves from Lahore to India, inherits a former Muslim mansion and discovers that an elderly Muslim woman still resides there, leading to a poignant exploration of human bonds.

The cast includes Sunny Deol, Karan Deol, Ali Zafar, Preeti Jinta and Shabana Azmi. The film will open in theatres on August 14.
