The Malayalam film ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ has gained significant acclaim and audience appreciation across the country. Producer Dulquer Salmaan recently disclosed that his father, Mammootty, and Kalyani Priyadarshan’s father, Priyadarshan, initially expressed worries about the film’s potential failure.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Dulquer revealed that Priyadarshan questioned the project, stating he didn’t understand the decision to undertake such a venture. Dulquer admitted he believed in the idea, though he was unsure of its success. He added that his father, veteran actor Mammootty, also shared these concerns. Despite their initial reservations, both were said to be very proud of the final outcome.
Kalyani Priyadarshan noted that the first message she received from her father after the film’s positive reception was a reminder not to let success get to her head, nor failure affect her heart. She shared that he consistently reinforces this message.
In another interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Kalyani Priyadarshan lauded Dulquer Salmaan for supporting a project like ‘Lokah’. She emphasized the courage required to invest time and resources into such a distinctive film, suggesting this kind of subject matter may not be as prevalent in other film industries. She viewed Dulquer as a risk-taker, noting a similar spirit in his parents and her own.
The official streaming partner for ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ has yet to be announced. However, it is reported by Indiatimes that the film will likely be available on Netflix following its theatrical release. Previous Dulquer Salmaan productions, ‘Kurup’ and ‘Maniyarayile Ashokan,’ were also released on Netflix.
