Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta Dies After Bathroom Fall
Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta died on October 30. He had been known for his action and crime thriller films, and he was also active on social media, where he often shared personal moments beyond his professional life.
In addition to his career, Gupta was a devoted father. Since his death, several older posts about his children have gained renewed attention, highlighting how openly he celebrated their achievements.
On October 21, Gupta shared his final post on X. It showed a huge LEGO structure his daughter was building on the family dining table. He expressed both surprise and happiness at her creativity, writing, "The biggest LEGO structure ever is being built on my dining table. Amazing!!!"
He had also written an emotional Instagram post about his son, Shivansh, praising the discipline and effort the young man brings to his life and his drive to build his own path.
Alongside a photo of his son, Gupta recalled his own tough childhood, when resources were scarce. He said his son has almost everything but still chooses hard work. According to the post, Shivansh wakes at five each morning, rain or shine, reaches the gym by rickshaw at 5:30, starts training before six, and goes to school by himself at 7:30, though a cook and a driver are available to help.
Gupta wrote that this is what makes his son's story admirable and said he was proud of the person he is today and the person he is becoming. The post ended with the hashtag #ProudFather.
Gupta started his career as a director in 1994 with Aatish: Feel the Fire. He later became known for films such as Kaante, Musafir, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Shootout at Wadala, Jazbaa, Kaabil and Mumbai Saga. He worked with Sanjay Dutt on Kaante, Musafir and Zinda. His final film, The Miranda Brothers, released in 2025.
Reports say that Gupta slipped in his bathroom at night and suffered a head injury, which led to his death. Filmmaker Ashok Pandit confirmed the news on social media.
