Ganesh Chaturthi Ritual Shows Ganesha Riding a Cart, Symbolising Farmer’s Plight

Mumbai – In a distinctive observance of Ganesh Chaturthi, actress Sonali Kulkarni presented a Ganesha idol seated on a bullock cart, dressed in farmer’s attire. The nine‑year tradition of hand‑made statues in her household took a new direction this year, focusing on the agrarian sector.

An art adviser had recommended the cart imagery, and Kulkarni envisioned the deity as a symbol of agricultural resilience. She invoked blessings for farmers suffering from floods, prolonged droughts, and erratic weather, seeking divine intervention for relief and prosperity.

The event also marked the inaugural Ganesh Chaturthi celebration of her brother and sister‑in‑law. Kulkarni expressed her wish that the deity’s arrival would fill every household with joy, wealth, and harmony.
