‘Hanuman Ansh’ film sparks political tussle between Congress and BJP

Mumbai, September 6 – ‘Hanuman Ansh’, a cinematic tribute to the life of saint Neem Karori Baba, has moved beyond box‑office reviews into the political arena.

Congress MP Manoj Kumar refrained from commenting on the film’s content, noting that any assessment should await a formal certification. He appealed to filmmakers to remember India’s pluralistic fabric, urging that movies should unite rather than alienate communities.

Meanwhile, BJP’s Ram Kadam reiterated that the saint’s followers view him with deep reverence and warned against any narrative that could be interpreted as an affront to Sanatan Dharma. “If there are objections, they must be raised after watching the film in its entirety,” he said.

The debate has revived long‑standing concerns about the intersection of cinema, faith and electoral strategy, with both parties vowing to safeguard religious sentiment while defending creative freedom.
