Isha Deol Calls Out Views-Driven Paparazzi Culture
Mumbai, October 29: Actress Isha Deol has addressed the trolling and unruly paparazzi behaviour faced by industry veterans, among them Jaya Bachchan and Hema Malini, saying the pursuit of views is fuelling the problem.
In an interview with IANS, Isha said that senior actors are often subjected to such treatment, and that this trend is being encouraged for online attention.
To illustrate her view, Isha used the example of a child growing into a teenager who fails to show respect to elders. "Whom would you blame? The parents, because they did not raise the child properly. I feel photographers are being guided in the same way within this culture."
Isha was clear that the photographer is not the primary offender. "I do not believe the fault lies with the person clicking the photograph. It lies with those who run the pages and want more likes and views, so they put such content out. We need to fix the root of the problem."
She spoke about the personal impact of this behaviour as well. "Our family has gone through all of this, and it is not respectful at all. If you ask me sincerely, the industry is made up of these people. Without naming names, they are the pillars of our industry. You have to respect them, because they gave you cinema."
Isha also pointed out that celebrities respond differently to photographers. Some enjoy light-hearted fun, while others feel uneasy. "Photographers should know their limits. Do not do it where it is not allowed, and do what is allowed where it is appropriate. I think it is as simple as that."
