The highly anticipated ‘Kantara Chapter 1,’ starring Rishab Shetty, has finally hit theaters, marking its debut. As a prequel to the 2022 Kannada hit ‘Kantara,’ the film has generated significant buzz and is receiving a positive response from audiences. Despite facing competition from other recent major releases, ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ has established a strong presence in cinemas. According to initial reports, the film collected Rs 60 crore on its opening day. While impressive, this figure is slightly behind the first-day collections of ‘They Call Him OG’ and ‘Coolie,’ which earned Rs 63.73 crore and Rs 77 crore, respectively. In the Hindi belt, the movie is competing with ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.’ Rishab Shetty plays the role of Berme, alongside Rukmini Vasanth as Kanakavathi, and Gulshan Devaiah as Kulashekara. The film’s visuals are brought to life by cinematographer Arvind S. Kashyap and the music of B. Ajaneesh Loknath, whose compositions in the original film were highly acclaimed. The film is produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner of Hombale Films. The 2022 film ‘Kantara,’ also directed by Rishab Shetty, starred Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, and Achyuth Kumar, and focused on a Kambala champion’s conflict, exploring themes of sacred land, ancestral legacy, and the clash between nature and law. The original ‘Kantara’ became the highest-grossing Kannada film of all time, with Rishab Shetty winning a National Film Award for Best Actor.
