From ‘Jubai’da’ to ‘Daayra’: Karina Kapoor’s Tribute and Upcoming Crime Drama

Actress Karina Kapoor Khan used the promotional circuit of her new movie "Daayra" to honour sister Karisma Kapoor’s timeless "Jubai’da" saree moment. The recreation, shared on Instagram, placed Karina’s version of the multicolour leheriya saree next to Karisma’s classic frame from the 1996 film.

The original ensemble, paired with simple blouses and pearl accessories, was showcased in the song "Dheeme Dheeme Gaun," composed by A.R. Rahman and vocalised by Kavita Krishnamurthy. Karina captioned the post, emphasizing the sisters’ shared sense of style.

"Daayra," directed by Meghna Gulzar, is inspired by true events and examines the tension between immediate and delayed justice through two contrasting police officers. The screenplay is a collaborative effort of Yash Keswani, Seema Agarwal and Gulzar herself. This project also marks Karina’s first screen pairing with Prithviraj Sukumaran and the third collaboration between Gulzar and Jungle Pictures.

Jointly produced by Jungle Pictures and Pen Studios, the bilingual (Hindi‑Malayalam) film will be released on September 18, with Pen Marudhar handling distribution.
