Khanna Says Political Motives Cloud Student Protests Over Exam Papers

Mukesh Khanna, speaking to IANS on August 31, expressed concern that the student protests over leaked exam papers are being hijacked by political narratives. While acknowledging the genuine grievance of students, he argued that the core demand is to stop paper leaks, not to blame the government.

The actor recalled his own college days when similar leaks occurred, underscoring that the problem has persisted for decades despite changes in the education landscape.

Khanna observed that several protest sites showed clashes between students and police, leading to injuries for more than 200 officers. He suggested that external actors may have provoked aggressive behaviour, turning a straightforward demand for accountability into a platform for political criticism against the current administration.

He called for a focused response: thorough investigations into the leak networks and swift legal action, rather than allowing the issue to become a tool for partisan attacks.
