The Malayalam film ‘Lokah: Chapter 1 Chandra,’ a superhero movie, has garnered significant attention. The narrative follows a young woman who discovers mystical abilities while navigating personal challenges. Embracing her newfound superpowers, she confronts evil to safeguard the world. The film has resonated well with audiences, achieving impressive figures in its opening week.
‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ demonstrated a consistent performance at the box office during its initial week. It premiered on Day 1 (Thursday) with ₹2.7 crore and experienced considerable growth over the weekend, accumulating ₹4 crore on Day 2 (Friday), ₹7.6 crore on Day 3 (Saturday), and peaking at ₹10.1 crore on Day 4 (Sunday).
As anticipated, the figures slightly decreased during the weekdays, with ₹7.2 crore on Day 5 (Monday). Notably, the film saw a resurgence with ₹7.65 crore on Day 6 (Tuesday) before a dip to approximately ₹6.75 crore on Day 7 (Wednesday, early estimates). Consequently, ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ has amassed a total of ₹46 crore in its first week, displaying strong performance across the Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu markets.
Blending Indian folklore, modern sci-fi, and horror elements, ‘Lokah Chapter 1’ marks the commencement of the Wayfarer Cinematic Universe (WCU). The cast includes Kalyani Priyadarshan, Naslen, Sandy, along with Arun Kurian, Chandu Salimkumar, Nishanth Sagar, Raghunath Paleri, Vijayaraghavan, Nithya Shri, and Sarath Sabha.
Details regarding its OTT release are yet to be officially announced by the producers. It’s reported that ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ is slated to be available on Netflix following its theatrical run. Previous films produced by Dulquer Salmaan, namely ‘Kurup’ and ‘Maniyarayile Ashokan,’ have also been released on Netflix.
