The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested Dilip Chaudhary from West Bengal in connection with an alleged extortion attempt targeting comedian Kapil Sharma. Chaudhary is accused of making threatening calls and demanding Rs 1 crore from Sharma’s aide. Authorities acted swiftly, apprehending Chaudhary in West Bengal and transporting him to Mumbai. He was subsequently presented before the Esplanade court, which remanded him to police custody until September 30th. The investigation aims to ascertain whether Chaudhary had genuine links to the gangsters whose names he invoked during the threats, including Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar. Between September 22nd and 23rd, Chaudhary is alleged to have made seven threatening phone calls and sent intimidating videos. Police are actively probing the details of the case.
