Mumtaz’s Journey from Child Artist to Filmfare Best Actress

Mumtaz was born on 31 July 1947 in Mumbai as Mumtaz Askari. She entered the film world at a very young age, initially taking small roles and being cast mainly as an action heroine. Working with actor Dara Singh gave her early exposure, but her breakthrough arrived when she began sharing lead roles with top stars. Films such as *Dushman*, *Prem Nagar*, *Roti*, *Khilona*, *Mahbooba*, *Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi*, *Hamraaz* and *Brahmachari* showcased her beauty, dance skills and acting talent. Her performance in *Khilona* earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress, the highest honor of her career.
