Piyal Rohatgi Slams Imran Khan Over Political Demonstration

Actress Piyal Rohatgi, who has been away from the silver screen for several years, launched a fierce attack on Imran Khan on October 15. She accused him of being a "unemployed actor" who displayed a complete lack of political sense by joining a protest that demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Khan’s arrest on October 10 at the August Revolution venue revealed that he does not possess Indian citizenship. Instead, he holds an Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI), a status that classifies him as a foreign national.

Rohatgi told reporters, "He should know better than to indulge in such foolish acts. He is an American citizen staying in India, working and married here – yet he seems to have missed visa requirements or possibly faces personal issues like a divorce."

She further noted that many actors without steady work gravitate toward high‑profile protests for the sake of publicity, as media coverage of such events offers a rare platform for visibility.

The FRRO has issued a show‑cause notice ordering Imran Khan to leave India by October 28, accusing him of violating the Foreigners Act by taking part in the demonstration without the correct legal status. Legal challenges are expected as Khan prepares to contest the order in court.
