Ramayana's Mangal Rang Wins Hearts With A R Rahman Score
Mumbai, October 25: Fans are eagerly awaiting Ramayana, the film directed by Nitesh Tiwari, and the latest song from the project has added to that buzz. Mangal Rang, a new track celebrating the love and devotion of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita, has been released, and early attention is focused on its music and vocals.
The song is composed by A R Rahman and features Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal. Their voices give the track a soothing, devotional quality that suits the film's spiritual theme.
On composing the song, Rahman described Ramayana as a story that has remained close to people's hearts for many generations. Translating it into music, he said, was a special experience. He explained that he wanted to capture the unique purity and gentleness in the bond between Ram and Sita. He hopes Mangal Rang will inspire love and devotion in those who hear it, and said some stories are best felt rather than explained.
Arijit Singh said the epic offers far more than a narrative. He called it a way of understanding life, one's conscience and the relationships that shape us. He said Rahman's melody carried him into a realm beyond words, where love shines in its purest form. Singing the song, he said, was a profound and life-changing experience, and he hopes listeners will feel the same love, gratitude and devotion he felt while recording it.
Shreya Ghoshal said the Ram-Sita relationship stands out for its trust, understanding and quiet strength rather than just the joy of togetherness. While singing Mangal Rang, she tried to sense that tenderness and gave the performance her full heart. She described being part of a story that means so much to so many people as a moment of pride and gratitude. She hopes the song offers comfort and belonging to listeners, helping them discover the beauty of the Ram-Sita bond in their own way.
The track has been released in five languages, each with its own set of singers. Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal handle the Hindi version. In Tamil, Abhay Jodhpurkar and Saindhavi sing, while Raghav Kaushik and Vaishali Samant perform the Telugu version. The Kannada version features Armaan Malik and Bela Shende, and Naresh Iyer and Amrita Rajan voice the Malayalam version.
Dr Kumar Vishwas penned the Hindi lyrics. Karthik Netha wrote the Tamil lyrics, Karthik Sargur the Kannada lyrics, and Vinayak Sasikumar the Malayalam lyrics. A R Rahman has composed the film's music.
Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi plays Goddess Sita in the film, which is produced by Namit Malhotra. The cast also includes Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari.
The first part of Ramayana is set for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026. The makers plan to release the second part during Diwali 2027.
