Aditya Dhar’s upcoming spy-thriller, ‘Dhurandhar,’ starring Ranveer Singh, is encountering legal obstacles. The parents of late Major Mohit Sharma have approached the Delhi High Court, seeking to halt the film’s release. Their primary concern is that the movie allegedly depicts real-life individuals without obtaining proper consent.
The High Court has instructed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to thoroughly review all points raised by the petitioners before making a final decision on the film’s certification. This directive ensures that the concerns of Major Mohit Sharma’s family are given due consideration.
Legal representatives for the family highlighted that the film’s teaser, released in September, prominently features the late Major Mohit Sharma. They contend that other characters, including the ‘SAA’ role, are also inspired by real individuals, with the central narrative focusing heavily on the late Major.
This legal intervention comes as ‘Dhurandhar,’ a spy-action film written and directed by Aditya Dhar, gears up for its release. The movie boasts a star-studded cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, alongside Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in supporting capacities. Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film’s certification process is now under scrutiny due to these legal challenges.
