From Mirzapur to Manto: Rasika Duggal Explains Her Versatile Choices

Actress Rasika Duggal, fresh from her portrayal of Bina Tripathi (Bina Bhaabi) in *Mirzapur: The Movie*, shared insights on September 14 about how she strategically selects roles to broaden her artistic range.

She told reporters that the massive audience reaction to Bina will soon reveal the layers that made the character a cultural phenomenon. The movie, she said, supplies a contextual framework that explains Bina’s lifestyle and attitude.

When pressed on whether she felt the industry pushing her toward similar characters after *Mirzapur*, Duggal highlighted two recent projects – *Manto* (released a few weeks before *Mirzapur*) and *Delhi Crime* (premiered right after). Both roles demanded a different physical appearance, look, and psychological makeup, which she believes insulated her from being pigeonholed.

Duggal added that Bina’s success provided her with fame, a vast viewer base, and a solid box‑office record. In *Manto*, her character Safia is crucial because the narrative explores the life of a noted writer’s wife, a storyline the director chose to present with sensitivity. Duggal praised the filmmaker for never relegating Safia to a secondary status, stressing that female stories deserve equal prominence alongside their male counterparts.
