No Need to Prove Anything, Shahnaz Gil Emphasizes Luck and Divine Guidance
Shahnaz Gil, a Mumbai‑based actress, revealed that her recent project “Ishqnama” is not about altering her image but about following a path laid out by fate.
When the press asked if she was trying to display a different facet of herself, she responded, “I am not attempting to prove anything. My destiny is already proving it for me. God gives me the strength, and His blessings bring me worthy scripts.”
She added that an artist’s journey is a perpetual process of learning and self‑enhancement, insisting she does not wish to be tethered to any single persona. Instead, she wants to be part of varied storylines.
Gil also spoke about the responsibility of depicting a real‑life story, noting she has given her best effort to honor the characters and hopes viewers will appreciate her role.
“Ishqnama” is based on the true love story of Nirmal Nimmma and Naseema set against the India‑Pakistan border from 1981‑1988. Directed by Arvinder S. Khaira and produced by Saurabh Rana and Ravneet Kaur Chahal, the film draws its narrative from the book “Hind Pak Bordernama”.
