He credited his friend Yatin Karyekar for suggesting the audition and Nagesh, along with Elahe Heptullah, Rahul Puri, and Subhash Ghai, for providing the opportunity that transformed his career. He praised the stellar cast, including Naseer, Girish Karnad, Shweta Prasad, Yatin, and Prateeksha Lonkar, for their contributions to his performance. Talpade described the experience of working on ‘Iqbal’ as amazing, filled with support from his co-stars. He concluded by saying that the film remains special, attributing its continued relevance to its underdog story of aspiration and inspiration.
