Speculation rises as Shriya Saran spotted with Rajinikanth ahead of Dharmana

Shri Saran’s recent Instagram post featuring a selfie with Rajinikanth has ignited a wave of speculation about her possible involvement in the upcoming Tamil film Dharmana. While the star‑studded picture captured fans’ imagination, the film’s makers have yet to confirm any new cast additions.

Dharmana, promoted as Rajinikanth’s 173rd cinematic venture, introduces the megastar as a sinister medical professional. The first look, which displays him gripping a blood‑soaked scalpel, has already generated buzz. Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu and produced by Kamal Hassan under the Raj Kamal Films International banner, the project signals a reunion of Rajinikanth and Hassan after a 47‑year hiatus.

The film’s lineup also lists Simran and Raashi Khanna in major roles, with industry insiders suggesting that actor Ram Pothineni could feature prominently. Production is currently in its second schedule in Chennai, aiming for a pan‑India theatrical release in the first quarter of 2027.

Shri Saran and Rajinikanth share a previous on‑screen partnership from the 2007 Tamil blockbuster Shivaji (Shivaji: The Boss). In that film, the superstar portrayed the titular hero while Saran played Vidya, the protagonist’s love interest. Directed by S. Shankar, the movie achieved blockbuster status, praised for the blend of Rajinikanth’s larger-than-life charisma and Saran’s grounded performance.
