Aamir Khan’s much-awaited film, Sitaare Zameen Par, has been released in theaters. The movie revolves around specially-abled children, with Khan portraying a basketball coach. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film features Genelia D’Souza and introduces ten new actors in the roles of specially-abled characters. It is a remake of the Spanish film Campeones.
The film has received positive initial responses, despite a moderate level of advance bookings. Day one box office predictions estimate a collection of Rs 9–10 crore, with evening and night shows potentially pushing the total past Rs 10 crore.
Trade analysts anticipate a robust weekend performance, with potential earnings of Rs 40–45 crore in the first three days if the current trend continues.
Notably, Aamir Khan reportedly declined a Rs 120 crore offer from Amazon Prime Video for the film’s OTT rights. The success of Sitaare Zameen Par in theaters is crucial, as failure to attract sufficient footfalls could result in a substantial financial loss for Khan.
Khan’s previous film, Laal Singh Chaddha, earned Rs 58.73 crore in its entire theatrical run.
