From jingles to global stages: Nigam’s multilingual journey

Sonu Nigam’s career began in his teenage years when he recorded up to seventeen advertising jingles a day in Delhi. Those early sessions required him to adapt his voice to a variety of styles, laying the foundation for a later career that spanned Kashmiri, Haryanvi, Rajasthani, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Manipuri, Assamese and many more regional languages.
